The Knock At The Door EP, EDEN's June 2010 release, represents an eclectic mix of Alt-Rock, pop, and Acoustic Rock. The EP's title was inspired by a book authored by J.B. Soloveitchik entitled "Kol Dodi Dofek-Listen my Beloved Knocks". The EP (and its follow up album TBR) intends to express the various moods and attitudes one may feel when paying attention to the nuances of life that tap us on the shoulder and that we take for granted. In a world so busy and full of distraction EDEN, with this EP, seeks to remind us about the delight of inner peace, sincere friendship, good old rock n' roll, and Providence. The EP also represents EDEN's perseverance and commitment to its message, music and mission.
So...in the world of smartphones, social networking, and ultra mass media when you finally tune out the noise and hear your own "The Knock At the Door" what is it that you actually hear? What did EDEN hear?
Well...after an hiatus due to a number of reasons (in part to recharge the batteries) EDEN returned with a new perspective on life and music and took a "snapshot in time" of its musical evolution. This snapshot is The Knock At The Door EP. Forged in the workshop of personal experience, real life, and hope EDEN seeks to enliven, enlighten, and entertain its audience with this EP. Some songs on the EP are meant to be contemplative and conceptual, others are just to rock out to, but at the end of the day, when all is said and done, the EP is about living and loving life and not taking it for granted. (This is what EDEN heard-what do you hear?)
In some respects the EP is a return to EDEN's hard rock roots in another it is entirely progressive and filled with a few firsts. One such first is that this EP features the very first song ever written by all members of EDEN: "Lichah Dodi." Another first is that it is the first installment in a series of thematic music EDEN plans to release. It is also the first EDEN EP (not album) to be available for digital release. Oh and the physical CD can also be converted into a phenakistoscope (a device that creates an animation much like those flip books of cartoons or parts of the NYC subway). For digital owners the animation can be viewed on EDEN's YouTube channel.
So stay tuned for more,
More is on its way.
