Mustafa, an innocent looking Arab worker is wandering around, snooping in every corner and fooling the neghborhood residents who don't suspect his evil intents.
At night he sends burglars to their homes to empty their contents, which he keeps in a hidden cave in the mountains. A burglary into Mendel's house, in which an invaluable holy scroll with nostalgic value was stolen, throws him into a dangerous adventure. Mendel tries to follow the burglars; he folllows Mustafa and enters the mountain crests by himself with virtually rare corse. In the mountains he meets with the desert tribes who warn him not to enter the depth of the desert.
Mendel doesn't take their warnings seriously and in the end he is captured by Mustafa and his people, who demand ransom for his release.
The residents who had no clue as to the kidnapper's identity, succeed after much searching and with the guides of their Rabbi to identify them. From this point they are going on a daring rescue mission, filled with many landmarks. At the end of it, Mendel is rescued from the cave with the help of a helicopter that was hovering on top of the desert, and Mustafa is sent to jail.
